Culture of the Riviera Maya

The only Mayan walled city on the coastline. Although not as impressive in size as Coba and Chichen Itza, it holds an unique beauty contrasting the stone castle on a cliff above a white sand beach and the clearest turquoise water.

Coba

Coba is located around two lagoons. City of the Pre-Columbian Maya civilization. A series of elevated stone and plaster roads radiate from the central site to various smaller sites near and far. These are known by the Maya term "sacbe" (plural "sacbeob").
