Camilo was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in Medellín, Colombia.
While on vacation in Playa del Carmen in 2005, Camilo got his first and unforgettable taste of scuba diving. Immediately addicted to this amazing sport, Camilo became an Open Water Scuba Diver. After making life changing decisions, he took the first step and moved to Mexico in 2007 to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in the Riviera Maya.
His first experiences in the Cenotes were in early in 2008 and became completely enchanted with this under water world and immediately signed up to become an IANTD Full Cave Diver. In love with the underwater caves and passionate about what he was doing, he continued in his endeavours, learning about technical diving and later becoming a PADI Tec Deep & Trimix Instructor as well as a PADI sidemount instructor in 2011.
In 2012, following his passion, he became a TDI Instructor and founded Divers UnderGround in the Riviera Maya, starting as an online based company.
Not only has Camilo been actively guiding and teaching cave and technical diving but has also been actively surveying caves and involved in cave exploration projects in the famous Riviera Maya and Colombia, his home country.
In 2016 he opened the doors of Divers UnderGround as a TDI Dive Center, right in the heart of the Riviera Maya in Xpu-Ha, 20 minutes from Playa Del Carmen and just a couple of kilometres south of Puerto Aventuras.
